It’s never too late to have a good Father’s Day every day

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Father’s Day was celebrated this past Sunday and I realized that I had not written an article about that special day.  What got my attention was the following statement from Billy Graham years ago.  “A good father is one of the must unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.”

I remember a message by David Jeremiah about a 5-year-old boy waiting by the door to greet his father from work.  The first thing he asked his father was, “How much money do you make an hour?”  The dad replied, “I make $50 an hour.”  “Well, can I borrow $25?” the boy asked.  When he gave him $25, the boy ran to his room and got some money he had saved.  He took $25 and added it to the money his dad gave him and said, “Now I have $50.  Can I buy an hour of your time?”

The bottom line is most fathers, like myself, forget that our children only want a personal relationship with us.  To develop this it takes time to listen and be concerned in what’s going on in their lives.  If we could spend only 10 quality minutes a day with each child, it would make all the difference in the relationship our children desire.

I realize that Father’s Day has passed, but it’s never too late to have a good Father’s Day every day!
