Elayn Hunt Correctional Center Officer arrested for falsifying records

BATON ROUGE, La. – An Elayn Hunt Correctional Center corrections officer was arrested Tuesday. Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Deputies booked 28-year-old Master Sergeant Samantha Joubert of Baton Rouge with Malfeasance in Office (La. R.S. 14:134) and Injuring Public Records (La. R.S. 14:132) for falsifying public documents. On June 2, 2022, an inmate committed suicide at the prison. Upon investigating this suicide, it was discovered that Joubert documented in the cellblock logbook that she had made routine rounds at the prison, when she had not. The Department turned over its findings to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Joubert remains on suspension pending the investigation. She is a Master Sergeant and has been employed at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center since April 19, 2018. As this is an ongoing investigation, no further details are available at this time.
