The true definition of a friend

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I often ask a person who is their best friend.  The response is usually, “I have many friends.”

Years ago, when I was asked that question, my answer was, “I have many friends.”   The person then said, “If someone has three in their lifetime, they are a rich person.”  It wasn’t until later that I found out the definition of a friend. Today, I realize that I have many acquaintances, but only three or four friends.

If you are a person like me who thought they had many friends, I suggest you read the following:

BE A FRIEND

What is a friend?

A friend is a rare person who asks how you are and then waits to hear the answer.

A friend knocks before entering, not after leaving.

A friend is a person who can step on your toes without messing up your shine.

A friend cares.

A friend can laugh with you and cry with you and not be embarrassed to do either one.

A friend is honestly interested in everything about you and can be trusted with the most private information in the world.

A friend wants you to be closer to Christ than to them.

A friend speaks to you when others won’t.

A friend knows all your faults, but likes you because of your heart.

Study the above paragraph.  Don’t ask yourself how many friends you have; ask yourself how many people you are befriending.

“A friend loves at all times…”  (Proverbs 17:17)

“A man who has friends must himself be friendly… (Proverbs 18-24)

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.”  (Proverbs 27:6)

The best vitamin for making friends is B1.
