SCSO investigates shooting of 19-year-old

Sheriff Champagne reports that during the early morning hours of June 4, 2022, detectives began investigating a shooting that occurred in Des Allemands, LA.
Detectives learned that four subjects were traveling in a silver Honda Accord on WPA Road in Des Allemands. One subject, Trent Byerly, a 19-year old was allegedly handling a firearm inside of the vehicle when the firearm discharged.
The victim, Trent Byerly was shot in the chest, and was immediately transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Statements provided by the other occupants inside of the vehicle, led to two subjects being arrested for Obstruction Of Justice.
