Suicide stopped on New Orleans bridge; New 988 lifeline coming

Police Officers across the country respond to a variety of service calls every day. Saving lives is part of our mission every time we put on the uniform. The following is an example of our dedication to the public.
Yesterday, Department of Public Safety (DPS) Officers were able to prevent a suicide on the Crescent City Connection Bridge in New Orleans. Suicide is plaguing our nation’s communities and you can help prevent suicide by knowing the risk factors and warning signs.
Beginning July 16, 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline will have a three-digit number (988) that can be accessed by anyone in the United States. It is currently available in some areas. Please visit the National Suicide Prevention website to learn more about prevention and available help.
The Suicide Lifeline is available to everyone by calling 1-800-273-8255; voice call, chat and hearing impairment options are also available.Anyone could be struggling, you are not alone!
