The Foundation, formed in memory of Brooke Posey who lost her life in a tragic automobile accident at 17, selects local children’s charity to support each summer.  Brooke’s greatest joy was children and from a young age she a gave a portion of her allowance to children’s charities. She would be so happy that Kids Join the Fight, an organization founded by a 9-year-old New Orleanian who battled brain cancer, has been chosen as this year’s recipient.  Their mission is to empower kids to join the fight against pediatric brain cancer.  Funds given to this organization provide care for local families and research for a cure.

“In our first five years, we’ve raised over $74,000 to aid local children’s charities,” Ernest Posey, Brooke’s father and director at the Foundation says. “This event is not just for swimmers. Fair games, prizes, a parade of prize raffle, music and food round out the swim-a-thon.” The event is open to the public and Ernest invites everyone to come out and have a good time.

About Kids Join the Fight:

The key objective of their organization is to make an impact to better the CARE of pediatric cancer patients in their local setting and to fund targeted research studies to find a CURE – all while eliminating the added strain on the families of the patients. In doing this important work, they also hope to raise awareness about the extreme underfunding of pediatric cancer research and how it leaves our most vulnerable population, children, with only archaic and toxic treatment options and complicated care systems.
