St. James Sheriff’s Office requests public’s help with a Gramercy homicide investigation

Today, May 14, 2022, at around 1:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a welfare concern for an elderly female on Second Street, in Lutcher. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from the Gramercy Police Department responded to the call. When deputies arrived, the homeowner, Glenda Edler, 68 years old, was found deceased.
Detectives responded and began a homicide investigation. Detectives learned that Ms. Edler lived at the residence with her adult son, Lance Louque. Through the initial investigation, Lance became a person of interest in this homicide. Information and a photo of Lance went out to surrounding agencies.
At 2:30pm, the Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an accident with injuries, on Highway 3125, in the area of Carrot Street. Deputies arrived at the accident scene and located a Grey Toyota in the ditch along Highway 3125. Deputies then located a Silver Nissan about 200 feet away. The driver of the Nissan is removed out of the vehicle and medical aid was started. The driver of the Nissan is identified as Lance Louque, the person of interest in the homicide. Lance was flown to a hospital for medical treatment. The accident is currently being investigated by Louisiana State Police.
