Deceased woman found behind the levee in Gramercy

GRAMERCY — This morning, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 7:27 a.m., St. James Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a white female lying face down behind the levee near Ellis Street, in Gramercy.
Both Gramercy Police Department officers and deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded. When officers and deputies arrived at the location, a 63-year old white female was located, deceased. At this time no foul play is suspected.
The St. James Parish Coroner has ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
