On April 28, 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop C, in partnership with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and Nicholls State University Police Department, conducted a DWI and occupant protection saturation patrol in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities caused by impaired driving and improper seat belt use. The patrol was conducted in Assumption, Lafourche, St. James, St. John the Baptist, and Terrebonne Parishes. The result was the arrest of four impaired drivers who had the potential to harm themselves or other drivers on the roadway as well as 35 seat belt citations issued.
This patrol followed the success of a stationary enforcement detail on February 24, 2022, when Troop C partnered with the Thibodaux Police Department, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Port Fourchon Harbor Police Department. That effort resulted in the arrest of eight impaired drivers, six narcotic arrests, and the recovery of a stolen gun.
