Ruston- On Friday, April 8, 2022, at approximately 7:32 a.m., a Trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated a traffic stop on a blue Nissan Sentra for speeding on LA Hwy 33 near Fairgrounds Road. The pursuit culminated in the arrest of 24-year-old Akeem Walker of Farmerville.
The preliminary investigation revealed a Nissan Sentra was traveling south on LA Hwy 33 at a high rate of speed. A Trooper assigned to Troop F initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Walker. During the traffic stop, it was learned Walker had an outstanding warrant from the Farmerville Police Department. Walker was then advised he was under arrest.
Walker fled the scene in the Sentra. During a brief pursuit, Walker struck another vehicle as it was crossing LA 33 from Frazier Road. The other driver was not injured.
After the crash, Walker fled on foot west toward Frazier Road. While running on foot, Walker was struck by the door of a moving vehicle driven by a motorist in the area. The Trooper caught up to Walker, rendered aid, and called for an ambulance. Walker was transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained from the vehicle.
Walker will be charged with speeding, hit and run driving, aggravated flight from an officer, and no driver’s license in addition to the warrant. The crash remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.
