On March 28, 2022, Charles Burbank of 1629 Casa Calvo St. New Orleans, LA, age 38, pled guilty to DWI 4^th Offense, Driving Under Suspension, and No Vehicle Registration. Burbank was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Lana Chaney, and presiding over this matter was the Honorable Judge Alvin Turner Jr. This guilty plea was the result of a plea agreement with prosecutors in connection with a 2020 DWI arrest.

 

         On March 14, 2020, Louisiana State Police responded to the Pierre Part area in reference to a possible impaired driver. Upon arrival contact was made with the driver who was identified as Charles Burbank. Upon making contact with Burbank, the trooper detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Burbank’s breath. Burbank admitted to consuming alcohol hours before being stopped. Burbank submitted to a series of standardized field of sobriety tests which he performed poorly on. Burbank was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center where he submitted to a breath test which showed his blood alcohol concentration at .157 g% which is nearly twice the legal limit. Burbank was subsequently booked into the jail.

 

Upon entering a guilty plea to the above-mentioned charges, pursuant to the plea agreement with prosecutors, Burbank was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.
