Editor’s Note 7:10 a.m.: ROAD HAS REOPENED

LAPLACE — Airline Highway Westbound is temporarily closed at U.S. 51 in LaPlace as clean-up efforts are underway on a half-mile long diesel spill.

DOTD, the St. John Fire Department and the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office are on scene. Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sheriff Mike Tregre said responders should be finished placing sand on the highway in about 30 minutes.
