Deputy Chief Franklin Fondel said their office was contacted by 911 after 3 p.m. Saturday in reference to a missing child in the 300 block of West School Street. Fondel said the child’s grandmother identified the girl as Isabella Washington.

He said officers initiated a ring down through the Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and along with neighbors, began searching the area in an attempt to locate Isabella. Through witness statements, detectives learned the child was taken from the residence where she lives with her grandmother, who has temporary legal custody.

Following a lengthy search and multiple witness interviews, detectives made contact with 26-year-old Talor Jones at around 8:44 p.m., who confirmed she had the child and was in route to LCPD headquarters. When Jones arrived and the child’s identity was confirmed, detectives canceled the missing child alert.

Further interviews were conducted and three arrests were made. All three are charged with conspiracy, interference with child custody and violation of a court order. They are Jones, 26 and Shakeira Marie Dupre and Mercedes Diamante Washington, both 22. All three were released on misdemeanor summons and the investigation will be turned over to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
