Body found in burn pile

A body was found in a burn pile Thursday in the yard of a homeowner in the 5600 block of Topsy Bel Road in Jeff Davis Parish, according to Ashley Rodrigue of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The body was discovered around 3:30 p.m. following a report of a grass fire.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday, according to Rodrigue.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office are assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available, she said.
