On March 8, 2022 at approximately 11:41 pm the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting that occurred on Lionel Washington Street in Lutcher, LA. Upon arriving at the scene of the shooting, deputies discovered one individual had been shot. The victim, Matthew Richard Wiggins (43 years old, Lutcher, LA) died of his wounds at the scene. Detectives investigating the shooting learned that the victim was shot as he went to answer a knock at the door of his residence. The investigation is still ongoing.
