Troopers concluded the first night of the Carnival 2022 deployment. Throughout the night, #Troopers completed several significant arrests on and around Bourbon Street, removing a total of 5 illegally possessed firearms from the busy and heavily populated area.
We would like to remind everyone of the following information pertaining to firearms.
Louisiana’s Law restricts you from:
• Intentionally concealing a firearm if you do not possess a concealed carry permit.
• Possessing a firearm in combination with a Controlled Dangerous Substance
• Possessing a firearm if you are convicted of a crime of violence or simple burglary, burglary of a pharmacy, burglary of an inhabited dwelling, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, felony illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, manufacture or possession of a delayed action incendiary device, manufacture or possession of a bomb, or possession of a firearm while in the possession of or during the sale or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, or any violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law which is a felony, or any crime which is defined as a sex offense
• Possessing a firearm on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet, even if the possessor has been issued a concealed carry permit.
Firearms illegally possessed and illegally carried in large crowds creates dangerous situations for both the public and first responders.
Please report all suspicious activity to law enforcement and help everyone enjoy a fun and safe #MardiGras2022.
