TPSO arrest drug carrying duo

On February 7, 2022, TPSO Narcotics Agents observed Joseph “Joey” Adams (37-year-old WM) of Independence, La traveling in Hammond, La. TPSO Narcotics Agents had prior knowledge that Adams had an open warrant by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office of unauthorized entry as well as being suspected of distributing heroin. Agents were able to stop the vehicle and place Adams in custody and detain the passenger, Katie Devall (27-year-old WF).
During the roadside investigation, a free air sweep was conducted around the vehicle by K9 Slash. K9 Slash quickly gave an alert on the vehicle for the presence of a narcotics odor coming from the car. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately one half pound of suspected marijuana, a loaded pistol, approximately 50 doses of LSD, and a hidden container which contained approximately 200 suspected Roxycodone prescription pills. Upon locating the pills, Agents observed differences in the appearances of the pills, believing them to be counterfeit and to contain heroin and/or fentanyl.
Chief Jimmy Travis reports that Adams and Devall have both been charged accordingly.
Adams was charged with being a fugitive from LPSO, 2 counts of possession with the intent to distribute CDS 1, possession with the intent to distribute CDS 2, possession with the intent to distribute CDS 4, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while in possession of CDS, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and probation and parole hold.
Devall was charged with 2 counts of possession with the intent to distribute CDS 1, possession with the intent to distribute CDS 2, possession of CDS 2, possession with the intent to distribute CDS 4, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm while in possession of CDS, and a failure to appear warrant.
Every person accused of any crime is considered innocent until proven guilty.
