LAPLACE — Through its Fusion Youth Outreach Ministry, Apostle Renita and Ambassador Winston Graber along with their church family have once again reached out to meet the need of  St. John, St. Charles and St. James Parish communities; this time helping to bridge the educational gap caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida.

The free after school program will be available to local families every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday through March 31, 2022.

Fusion Youth Director Tawanda Thomas expressed, “Our children have missed so much instructional time, and it’s showing up in their inability to perform basic mathematical and reading skills. So as the church we are here to intercede… come alongside the parents and the school and stand in the gap and help our kids succeed.”

Apostle Renita Graber is a 30-year retired school teacher who understands that education is important.  Likewise, children are very important to her because impacting one child’s life can change the footprint of that family’s generation.

According to Apostle Renita Graber, “Hosting the after-school program is the natural progression of our Fusion Youth Outreach Ministry. I preach about the church being seen in this season, but it is not to show off but to show up. The church is here to show God and His love, and there is no better way to do that than to meet the needs of God’s people.”

Graber added, “We have a great group of people who have caught hold to this gospel that doesn’t just speak but moves and does, and that reaches. The children attending feel so at home at Victorious Life they are inviting their friends – they love it and so do we.”

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from now until March 31, kids are welcome to come. The program times are 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.  It’s FREE, SAFE and FUN.  Volunteers feed the kids (home cooked meals), tutor them and then allow time for them to play games and have a little fun. Partners East St John Preparatory Academy and Fifth Ward Elementary have expressed their gratitude for the program as well as many parents, and Victorious Life Family Worship Center is honored to be used by God in this way.

VLFWC is planning for its summer camp program and if anyone wants to donate, please feel free to do so. Individuals may contact the church at 985-212-0553 or go to the church’s website at www.victoriouslifefwc.com.
