WALLACE — Local nonprofit The Descendants Project is honored to sponsor the eight-week Sensational Girls Program, a comprehensive empowerment program for students directly in their junior and senior years of high school.

St. John the Baptist students who register for the program will participate in weekly 50- to 60-minute lessons focusing on gratitude, self-care, confidence and advocacy. Sensational Girls provides targeted emotional and social support in alignment with social and emotional development and learning guidelines.

Girls who attend the eight-week comprehensive program will receive a specially designed gratitude journal, a Sensational Girls T-shirt, a workbook, a keepsake pen and other surprise items. Space is limited.

The curriculum was developed and is taught by Angelic Sutherland Keller, an attorney who previously worked in St. John the Baptist Parish Schools for over five years and in local and state government administration for over 12 years. She has also worked in the juvenile justice system for six years.
Angelic, a talented native of Wallace, is an inspiration in our commitment to bettering the lives of the local community, especially for the youth.
