RESERVE — As of January 11, East St. John leads the River Parish schools in basketball power rankings with a No. 7 position in Class 5A. The ‘E’ boasts an 18-4 record following last week’s overtime victories against formidable district opponents Thibodaux and Hahnville.

The two leading scorers were Kylon Harris and Amir Rios. According to Coach Antonio Broadway Sr., Rios showed great rim protection against Hahnville on Friday with 11 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. The ‘E’ also had quality minutes from sophomore Jayhi Jones.

Other contributors to last week’s victories included Jabari Bolden, Brian Warren, Bryce Gilyot,  Kailen Lipps, Devan Davis and KyVan Fobb.

East St. John opened this week with a 58-69 loss to Walker. The Wildcats are traveling to H.L. Bourgeois this evening, and their next district game will be against Central Lafourche on Friday.
