Belle Chasse – On January 7, 2022, shortly after 8:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B responded to a crash involving an ATV on LA 23 near Star Place Drive. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 26-year-old Alex Migliore of Belle Chasse.

The initial investigation revealed that Migliore was the passenger on a 2011 Yamaha Grizzly 550 ATV, driven by a juvenile. The Yamaha was traveling south on the right shoulder of LA 23 when it impacted an abandoned trailer that was parked partially on the shoulder and partially in the grass. Upon impact, both occupants were ejected. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Migliore suffered critical injuries and the juvenile suffered moderate injuries.  Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors of the crash. Toxicology results on the juvenile are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

On January 9, 2022, Migliore succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind the public that ATV use on roadways is illegal, unless directly related to farming or other duties outlined by Louisiana Revised Statute 32:299.  The law can be found by following this link: http://www.legis.la.gov/Legis/Law.aspx?d=88237. Properly utilizing safety equipment, such as a helmet, can decrease the risk of serious injury or death.  If you witness hazardous situations, please contact Louisiana State Police at *LSP (*577).
