RESERVE — As the St. John the Baptist Parish School District continues to recover from Hurricane Ida, some scholars will report to a new location for the start of the Spring semester, beginning on January 4, 2022.

Beginning in January, LaPlace Elementary School scholars will be spread out between the LaPlace Elementary site and the metal building at East St. John Preparatory Academy.

The following changes will take place:

  • LaPlace Elementary School Pre-K through second grade scholars currently at Fifth Ward Elementary will move back to LaPlace Elementary.
  • LaPlace Elementary School third through fifth graders currently at East St. John Preparatory Academy will move back to LaPlace Elementary.
  • LaPlace Elementary School sixth through eighth graders currently in trailers at East St. John Preparatory Academy will move into the metal building at East St. John Preparatory Academy.

Since the trailers at East St. John Preparatory Academy will no longer be occupied, the District will focus on moving them to the Leon Godchaux site to create more room for East St. John High School scholars.

Moving the LaPlace Elementary Pre-K through second grade ace for Emily C. Watkins Pre-K students. This allows St. John Parish Schools to get back into compliance with state requirements regarding classroom occupancy for preschool students.
