Schriever – On December 22, 2021, around 8:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop C was notified of a single-vehicle fatality crash on Isle of Cuba Road just west of Back Project Road in Terrebonne Parish. The crash claimed the life of 28-year-old Michael Dupre of Morgan City.

The preliminary investigation revealed Dupre was traveling west on Isle of Cuba Road in a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. For reasons still under investigation, the Cruze ran off the roadway to the right and struck a drain culvert head-on.

Dupre was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered severe injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

A standard toxicology sample was collected from Dupre and submitted for analysis.

Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions, day or night. Statistics show the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when one is properly restrained. Motorists are encouraged to make the smart choice and to always wear a seat belt.

Troop C has investigated 45 fatal crashes resulting in 59 deaths in 2021.
