SCSO issue release regarding the finding of deceased individuals

On Friday, December 17, 2021, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a male’s body was found in a drainage canal near the 100 block of Spruce Street in Boutte, LA. The body was positively identified as Ellington Lockett, a 31-year-old resident of Boutte.
On Monday, December 20, 2021, S.C.S.O. detectives attended the autopsy of Lockett in New Orleans, LA. The attending Pathologist’s preliminary examination leads investigators to believe that Lockett’s death is the result of homicide by stabbing.
Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives have learned that Lockett was last seen twice on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Once at approximately 7:00 a.m. riding his bicycle on Magnolia Avenue towards Highway 90 and again at approximately 9:00 p.m. wearing a black jacket, black pants, and brown shoes. It’s believed that Lockett was headed to the area of S. Kinler to retrieve his bicycle that night.

Callers do not have to give their name or testify to be eligible for the up to $2,500 reward or up to $5,000 in the incident of a homicide.
On Monday, December 20, 2021, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that a male’s body was found deceased in a drainage ditch just north of the 13400 block of Highway 90 in Boutte, LA.
Based on the investigation, the body was positively identified as Leroy Houston Jr., a 52-year-old resident of Avondale, LA. Preliminary findings by detectives indicated that Houston Jr. was wearing a white shirt, dark-colored shorts with no shoes, and his body showed no signs of trauma.
On Tuesday, December 21, 2021, detectives attended the autopsy of Houston Jr. in New Orleans, LA. The attending Pathologist’s examination found no signs of physical trauma to Houston’s body. Upon further inspection, the Pathologist indicated that Houston Jr. suffered from moderate coronary artery disease, and emphysema, which was likely exacerbated by excited delirium, due to the illegal narcotics in his system.
At this point in the investigation, detectives do not suspect foul play, nor do they believe this case is related to the incident involving Lockett that was reported on December 17, 2021, in the 100 block of Spruce Street, Boutte, LA.
