GRAMERCY – On Thursday, Congressman Troy A. Carter Sr. announced a $30 million dollar project for repairs and painting of the Gramercy Veterans Memorial Bridge that connects St. James and St. John the Baptist parishes.

“The Veterans Memorial Bridge, like too many in Louisiana, has fallen into disrepair and has deferred maintenance,” said Congressman Troy Carter. “Thanks to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, we now have resources to address many of the issues that we have long had to push aside. This bridge will undergo $30 million dollars worth of repairs and upgrades, better connecting people to jobs, kids to school, and strengthening our bridge for the next generation. The Veterans Memorial Bridge project is the largest investment in St. James Parish for roads or bridges in Fiscal Year 2022 – and it’s all possible thanks to the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, legislation I was so proud to vote for.”

He was joined by state and local officials, including Department of Transportation and Development District Administrator Todd Donmyer, State Representative Randal Gaines, State Representative Ken Brass, St. James Parish President Pete Dufrense, Sheriff Michael Tregre, Sheriff Willie Martin, and Gramercy Mayor Steven T. Nosacka

Louisiana will get at least $7 billion in investments in transit, rail, roads, bridges, flood protection, water management, economic development, broadband deployment, and more.

This was the second stop on the Congressman’s ‘Building a Better Louisiana Infrastructure Tour.’ So far he has also held an event in New Orleans East to celebrate a $41.6 million investment into the Green Bridge connecting Orleans and St. Bernard Parish. Tomorrow the Congressman will head to Baton Rouge to discuss transit and rail funding. More information about the upcoming events here.
