Baton Rouge – On Sunday a select group of men and women reported to the Louisiana State Police Training Academy for the commencement of historic Cadet Class 100. While challenging, day one for the cadets is about proving their dedication and resolve. To succeed in their career as a Louisiana State Trooper, cadets must first learn personal discipline, attention to detail, leadership, teamwork skills, and inner strength.

Throughout the next 23 weeks of training, the 64 cadets will receive instruction in numerous areas including firearm proficiency, tactical driving, de-escalation techniques, advanced crash investigation, lawful use of force, implicit bias recognition, impaired driving detection, and effective communication and leadership skills to exemplify the LSP Core Values.  Upon successful completion of the LSP Training Academy, the newly graduated Troopers will participate in a 10 to 16-week field training program before beginning their careers of dedication, protection, and service to the citizens of Louisiana. The field-training program places new Troopers under the direction of highly trained, experienced Troopers who will coach them to apply lessons learned in the academy to real time patrol duties.

If you are ready to serve our communities and State, or if you simply want to be the change you would like to see, NOW IS THE TIME!
