HAHNVILLE — St. Charles Parish has extended its debris collection, and all residents should have debris curbside by Monday, January 10, 2022, as collection will come to an end. To date, the parish has removed more than 1.1 million cubic yards of debris caused by Hurricane Ida.

“After multiple conversations listening to the concerns of our residents, I have decided that extending the debris deadline was the best course of action for our parish,” President Matthew Jewell said. “This gives our residents more time to continue cleanup efforts and ensures all Hurricane Ida-related debris will be properly removed from the parish.”

The final pass will begin on January 11 and will run until all debris is collected. Separating debris into construction debris and vegetation debris will allow for quicker pickup. Residents are reminded that debris should be put curbside but should not block the road. Additionally, debris should not be put near or on trees, utility poles, fire hydrants or other structures.

Residents and contractors working in the parish are encouraged to utilize dumpsters when available and should contact the Department of Planning and Zoning regarding permitting.
