CONVENT — Parish officials announced Thursday, debris collection is wrapping up in St. James Parish.
Debris removal operations have been ongoing since September with nearly 225,000 cubic yards collected parish wide by contractors, DRC. Regular debris collections will temporarily pause beginning Saturday, November 20 in preparation for the final pass, which is set to begin Monday, December 6th.
Residents are asked to move any remaining debris to the right of way before December 6 to be included in the final pass. Debris should be placed away from any utilities equipment, mailboxes or low hanging trees or power lines.
To have debris removed during final pass, parish officials ask residents to report their address to the parish Citizen Service Center by placing a work order online or by calling 225-562-2500. Residents will be asked to specify if their debris is storm related or regular tree trimmings. Call Center representatives will take work orders for the Town of Lutcher, Town of Gramercy and the unincorporated areas of the parish.
The residential debris drop-off point at the Vacherie Transfer Site will remain open, with the exception of holiday closures from Wednesday, November 24 to Monday, November 29.
