Texas man arrested for stealing roofing nails in St. John

Mario Gonzales Aguilera, 37, of Dallas, TX, was arrested Tuesday, November 9, 2021, for stealing three cases of roofing nails from the driveway of a residence on Banks Court in LaPlace about 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Through investigation and review of surveillance video that captured a male subject stealing the boxes, officers developed Aguilera as the suspect. Several tips from the community helped detectives identify and locate the suspect.
On November 9, 2021, criminal investigation and special operations officers conducted an investigative stop on the suspect vehicle in the 1400 block of West Airline Highway in LaPlace. The driver, identified as Aguilera, matched the description of the suspect observed on the home surveillance video on Banks Court.
Aguilera was booked with criminal trespass – immovable property and theft-less than $1,000 (misd). He is being held in custody in lieu of a $1,000 bond.
