They say it takes a village. And I know I’m not the only one that can truly understand this. If you’ve been following our past updates, you would have read about the genuine support from our chamber friends in St. Bernard. I cannot express enough in words how appreciated their support has been during this recovery. Not only did they show up with Board members the week after the storm to help serve meals and donate 20-plus cases of water; in partnership with the Irene Campbell Foundation and the Community Center of St. Bernard, they delivered a truck load containing 80 boxes of non-perishable food to feed 80 families (of four) for a week. As though that wasn’t a great gesture of support, they also contacted us to deliver funds collected to help us in our recovery. Sincerest thanks to the Meraux Foundation, St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation and the St. Bernard Chamber for their contributions.
I look forward to being able to support our fellow chambers in the future that may go through what our communities just did. Hurricanes are no stranger to southeast Louisiana, but we stay hopeful that we won’t have another too soon, right? But when it does, we will be there to help in any way we can. Stay tuned for more information on how you can contribute to the recovery and restoration efforts of our region.

Our tri-parish governments have done an amazing job with keeping everyone up to date on the status of their parishes. Most importantly, communicating needed resources to help get through the initial aftermath. Be reminded that our office still serves as a business recovery center where SBA is available to assist you Monday – Wednesday from 9 am – 5:30 pm. The SBA application deadline has been extended to Nov. 29, 2021. Be sure to spread the word.
Lastly, we are in process of prepping for membership renewal. Renewals will be due Jan. 31, 2022. If you have any questions or would like to discuss further how the chamber is working on your behalf, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
We value each of you and are grateful to have you in our chamber family!
