RESERVE — The second annual St. John the Baptist Parish Trunk-or-Treat was met with beautiful, breezy weather on October 28 at REGALA gymnasium in Reserve.
The drive-thru event delighted families and gave local children a sense of normalcy amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Representatives from St. John the Baptist Parish’s government, Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, Library, Assessor’s Office and more dressed up in costumes, decorated the trunks of their vehicles and handed out Halloween sweets to children.
The St. John Parish Trunk-or-Treat was started last year by Parish President Jaclyn Hotard as an opportunity to increase quality of life and provide a sense of community for residents.
The West Bank Trunk-or-Treat, originally scheduled for October 27, was cancelled due to severe weather. In place of the Trunk-or-Treat, parish staff delivered Halloween to West Bank children at their school sites.
