DESTREHAN — The Destrehan Fighting Wildcats added another victory to their undefeated record Friday night as they hosted and defeated the East St. John Wildcats 38-7.

Destrehan’s “immediate score” plan of attack held true as they put the first score on the board with 11:44 into the first quarter, which made the score 7-0. Destrehan’s “score first early” strategy has been in effect all season, and this game was no exception as they continued their offensive assault on The “E” all game long.

At the end of the first half, the score was 21-0. By the end of the third quarter, ESJ’s Wildcats still had not scored, and the score was 35-0. Destrehan’s defense was excellent in making stops and keeping East St. John from scoring until late in the fourth quarter. Kylon Harris made a 99-yard touchdown run for East St. John to make the score 35-7.

Destrehan’s Wildcats certainly came to win tonight, but also to secure their spot as the No. 1 team in the district. The Destrehan Wildcats are certainly in a good position for a playoff run again this year as well. Their offense has been strong all year, and the defensive line gives up very little yards and not many scores.

East St. John played hard but just could not get past that defensive line and get the scores needed tonight. It was Destrehan’s Senior Night, and they certainly made sure this night wouldn’t be a loss. The Destrehan Wildcats’ final game score was 38-7. Destrehan had some awesome contributing factors such as Shane Lee, Patrick LeBranch, Jacobi Green, William Bryant and Steven Walker, all of which helped the DHS Wildcats secure the win. Destrehan continues to be undefeated and will play next week at Thibodaux.

Other scores from around the River Parishes were as follows:

  • Hahnville defeated Central Lafourche 49-13
  • St. James High School defeated Patterson 21-7
  • Riverside Academy gained a win after West St. John’s forfeit
  • St. Charles Catholic defeated South Plaquemines 43-0. SCC is still yet undefeated with a record of 7-0 and will play next Saturday, 11 a.m., against Fisher at West Jefferson.
  • Lutcher will be playing Donaldsonville on this Saturday, October 30, at 1 p.m.
