The merciful God is also a jealous God

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I have always believed that God is kind and merciful and that His love is unconditional.  It wasn’t until I accepted Jesus as the Lord of my life, became a Christian, and began reading the Bible did I realize God is also a jealous God.

Exodus 20:5 …you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.  For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.  Exodus 34:14 …(for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God).  My first reaction was that this didn’t sound like a loving God, but later understood the relation He wants to have with us is one focused only on Him.

I’ve been blessed to be chosen to labor in God’s ministry of Get High on Life.  I recently read in a daily devotional that when you’re involved in God’s work, it’s easy to get out of balance and end up enjoying the work of the Lord more than the Lord of the work.  I must admit that I’ve been guilty of that.  I have to repent and ask His forgiveness for thinking at times that it’s about me and not about Him.

The power I need to succeed in God’s given assignment comes from the time spent with Him and not with people.

Sometimes God sends you a message from people or from spiritual daily reading. He did to me and the message got my attention.  Now it’s up to me to react and focus more on Him and nothing else.
