Hahnville – Today, St. Charles Parish officials cut the ribbon on the completion of the road restoration process and the re-opening of Spillway Road for public use. The road was unsafe for residents to use over the past three years as the numerous openings of the Bonnet Carré Spillway damaged box culverts and eroded the road.

The Department of Public Works started the road restoration process with Principal Engineering in October 2020 and proceeded with construction by Omega General Construction in March 2021.

All box culverts were reset and bolstered, and the road was revitalized with a cement-stabilized base to withstand openings in the future. The road was re-edged and restored with new asphalt.

The project’s total cost was $1,358,556 and came from the Roads and Drainage – Paved Streets fund. Construction costs were $1,157,156, and the remaining $201,400 was for engineering.
