Tigers defeat the Cavaliers

LULING — In one of the toughest games of the season, the Hahnville High Tigers defeated the De La Salle Cavaliers 14-13 Friday night.

The Tigers gave an excellent performance of determination and grit as they held off the Cavaliers down to the wire. The first half was more of a defensive game. The Cavaliers scored only once, while the Tiger didn’t, which left the score at halftime Tigers 0 Cavaliers 7. But the Tiger defense would not let them score again in that first half.

However, the second half proved to give the fans an exciting show fearlessness as the Tigers consistently moved the ball up and down the field attempting to score.

Then, with 5:22 left until the end of the third quarter, the Tigers finally got on the board with a touchdown by Troy Kendrick to make it a tie game of 7-7. Both teams however were riddled by penalties that set the teams away from the red zone many times. The third quarter ended with both teams’ fans on their feet and a tied game, Tigers 7 and De La Salle 7.

The fourth quarter continued to keep up the excitement as the Tigers scored another touchdown with 7:51 left by Kendrick again. This time, De La Salle answered right back with a touchdown with 6:49 left in the game. The Cavaliers they tried to fake a punt and run the ball, but it was stopped and the score was 14-13 with the Tigers on top.

Hahnville advanced the ball down the field but fumbled and it was recovered by the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers then advanced the ball down the field but the Tigers defense stopped them at every attempt for the touchdown.

Then, with one second left in the game, De La Salle called a time out, keeping the fans in suspense. When the players returned to the field, the cavaliers attempted a field goal, but the attempt was no good. The Tigers came out with the win, final score 14-13. Friday night’s win advances the Hahnville Tiger’s record to 2-3.
