LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School is excited to offer juniors and seniors a unique opportunity to learn about best practices for taking the ACT with experts from Mastery Prep, the premier ACT Prep organization.
These sessions will take place via Zoom on Sunday, October 3 from 5 to 9 p.m.
This Virtual Boot Camp will be available to students wherever they are, as long as they have access to WiFi and a computer.
SCC will be administering the official ACT to all seniors and juniors on Tuesday, October 5. The purpose of this Boot Camp is for students to learn: pacing and time management, test-taking and guessing strategies, tips for the most important question types, as well as, to gain confidence before taking the ACT test on Tuesday, October 5.
There will be a 15-minute break during the four-hour Boot Camp session on Sunday evening. Students are expected to be on their best behavior and are encouraged to use this Bootcamp to their advantage. Administration will be monitoring the virtual bootcamp.
All juniors and seniors must complete a Google Form by Friday at 8 a.m. in order to attend.
This form will also let school administration know if there is a need to open the school for students to use during this event because they may be experiencing difficulties with WiFi capabilities at home. Students who participate in the Boot Camp will need an ACT Boot Camp Workbook. This form will also let school administration know which students need a workbook. Only SCC juniors or seniors will be able to complete this Google Form. Parents, please make sure that your child has completed the form by Friday morning.
Students will receive a link via email before Sunday evening to access the Zoom sessions.
The virtual Boot Camp will engage students through pop-up questions to ensure student engagement – showing real time results to the group. Students will be able to ask questions via chat, and school admin/teachers will be participating as well.
This experience will help you realize that you have the skills to perform college-level coursework and gives our school the information we need to get you there. As you know, earning a good score on the ACT is essential for admission to many colleges, universities, TOPS awards, as well as technical college programs.
