Hahnville, LA – The Department of Waterworks billing office has sustained significant damages due to Hurricane Ida. Water services continue to be provided at the same high-quality as pre-Hurricane Ida, however operations have been modified. The Waterworks back-building at 403 Milling Ave, will re-open on Monday, September 27, 2021 with modified operating hours of 8:30 am to 11am and 12 pm to 3pm.

Recognizing the hardship the community is facing, residents will not be issued a water bill and no charges will be incurred during the month of September. Outlined below is the approach the department is taking to address billing for the next few months.

Billing Updates

Due to debris inhibiting the ability to read meters parish-wide, the department is moving to a flat-rate billing process and will follow its normal billing cycles. Beginning October 8, 2021, residential customers will receive a flat-rate bill of $65 which will cover water usage, sewer and garbage services. Residents with irrigation meters will be charged an additional $5. This amount is less than the average residential bill as calculated by the department annually. Normal billing operations will resume once water meters become accessible. (Additional information regarding billing breakdown can be found on our website here.)

Commercial customers will be billed at a separate flat-rate for October, and industrial customers will receive traditional meter-read bills for September and October.

How to Pay Your Bill

There are four ways for customers to pay water bills; online using Paystar, via phone at 1-866-703-2370, via mail, or by using the drop boxes at either Waterworks location. Customers cannot call the Waterworks Department to make payments. All online fees have been waived during this time.

Ways to Contact the Department

Customers needing to contact the department for things such as turn-offs, service transfers or account information are encouraged to do so online here.

For customers who are unable to access the internet, phones have been set up to field residents’ calls. Customers are encouraged to leave a voicemail if their call is not answered, and a Waterworks representative will return the call. The numbers are 504-252-6819 or 504-252-6824.
