FEMA & Red Cross mobilize as St. John recovery efforts continue

LAPLACE — Hurricane Ida recovery is underway in St. John the Baptist Parish. As of Wednesday evening, Parish officials provided the following updates:

Distribution Sites

Two Distribution Sites are set up with water and MREs until further notice 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at REGALA Gym (200 REGALA Park Rd.) and Wallace Fire Station (5733 Hwy 18, Wallace)

FEMA is mobilizing, Red Cross is mobilizing, and we are working to get our residents the assistance they need now.

Red Cross & Fire Department are out assessing damage and collecting information to aid in recovery efforts.

More than 30 crews clearing roadways and picking up debris.

Water is being restored at a slow pace. Crews are working around the clock to repair leaks and build pressure in the system. A Boil Water is in place for all water customers until further note.

Entergy crews are out and canvassing St. John Parish assessing damaging and making repairs. They confirmed that every substation in St. John was damaged.

Although there is no estimated time of restoration, crews are actively deployed in St. John working.

St. John Parish is under a parish-wide curfew from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. until further notice.
