Caddo Parish – Earlier this morning, just before 3 a.m., Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations Bossier Field Office (LSP/BFO) was requested by the Shreveport Police Department (SPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting. The shooting occurred in the 1800 block of Missouri Avenue, inside the city limits of Shreveport.
The initial investigation revealed that SPD responded to a call for service involving a suspicious person. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located a person matching the description. The suspect was later identified as 20-year-old Devin Ned of Shreveport. As officers approached Ned, he fled the scene in a vehicle. SPD pursued the vehicle to the 1800 block of Missouri Avenue, where it came to a stop. Officers gave loud verbal commands and instructed Ned to exit the vehicle. Ned refused to exit and depressed the vehicle’s accelerator, ultimately striking one of the officers. One officer discharged a duty-weapon striking Ned.
Ned and one officer were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
LSP/BFO will serve as the lead investigating agency. The LSP Crime Lab is processing the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further information is available, at this time.
