TPSO make arrest in August 5 shooting

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest Carltez ‘’1040 Tez’’ Hart, a 20 year -old male from Hammond, LA. on one count of Second Degree Murder.
Hart is accused of shooting and killing 44 – year-old Telra Johnson on August 5, 2021. Chief Jimmy Travis reports the incident took place around 3:30 in the afternoon outside of a residence on Baker Lane in Hammond.
When deputies arrived at the scene they observed Johnson unresponsive lying in the roadway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Johnson later succumbed to his injuries.
During the course of the investigation Carltez ‘’1040 Tez’’ Hart – a known ‘’1040’’ gang member who frequents the area of Baker Lane – was identified as the shooter. The gangs name “1040” comes from the state highway number relative to Old Baton Rouge Highway.
Hart was located and taken into custody in the late evening hours of August 9, 2021.

HAMMOND, LA – Chief Jimmy Travis reports that the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has been investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon on Baker Lane in Hammond, LA.
A caller stated they heard gunshots, then observed a male subject was lying in the roadway unresponsive. Following the 9-1-1 call reporting the sound of gunshots in the area, deputies responded to Baker Lane a little after 3:30 p.m., Travis reports. Once on scene, deputies discovered the male lying in the roadway with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 44 – year-old Telra Johnson of Hammond, was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to injuries sustained during the altercation and subsequent shooting on Baker Lane.
Several suspects have been identified, however, detectives are still looking for additional information related to the case.
