Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agents cited one man for alleged commercial fishing violations in St. Bernard Parish on July 29.

Agents cited Roy Campo III, 38, for failing to have a commercial fishing license, failing to have a crab trap gear license, failing to have a commercial vessel license, and operating a vessel under license suspension.

Agents observed Campo unloading numerous boxes of crabs at a dock located in Yscloskey and upon inspection was unable to produce any valid licenses.  Agents then learned that Campo is currently under a mandatory revocation by the state of Louisiana for all recreational and commercial fishing privileges.  Agents also learned that Campos driver’s license was suspended not allowing him to legally operate a vessel in state waters.

Agents seized and returned 450 pounds of crabs to the water.

Taking commercial fish without a commercial fishing license, gear license and vessel license each carry up to a $500 fine and 90 days in jail.

Agents participating in the case are Corporal Blaine Wagner and Agent Shea Schexnaydre.
