HAHNVILLE – The St. Charles Parish Finance Department was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2021 budget by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This department has received this award for nine consecutive years.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this prestigious award once again,” Chief Financial Officer Grant Dussom said. “With more budget stipulations and challenges in place, the process to earn this award becomes more difficult to obtain each year. The fact that we have now received it nine years in a row is a true testament to the hard work and dedication the Finance Department puts forth each day. This award is a fantastic way to recognize the department for all of its hard work.”
This award is a significant achievement for St. Charles Parish and the Finance Department as it shows the commitment to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the award, the Finance Department had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.
The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. The budget documents must be given a proficient rating in all four categories and the 14 mandatory criteria to receive the award.
