In 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded with a mission of fairness and equality. Our core mission is to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

 

Our Branch primarily focuses on accountability, transparency, integrity, keeping elected officials honest and exposing all public corruption. The justice system is designed to provide oversight to ensure the public is not mislead and abused by corrupt politicians, taking into account their role to protect the public. Public corruption occurs when a public official, at any level of government- local, state or federal- does any official act in exchange for money (or other free goods or services). Often, it is the result of agreements made in whispered conversations and sealed with quick handshakes. The secretive nature of the crime makes it difficult to detect without the assistance of concerned citizens.

 

Types of public corruption include: Law Enforcement, Judicial, Government Officials, Contract and Foreclosure Auction. Elected officials must become fully conscious when they choose to seek office that it is a sacrifice of self to service of the public. Elected officials make many promises during election. After, many promises are broken and compromised. Until we hold them accountable, change will not happen.

 

We are asking the federal government to investigate and provide oversight for several governmental agencies within St. John the Baptist Parish to uphold the standards of public integrity. Please consider, this letter is not to retaliate or throw any official under the bus but a call for action.
