GARYVILLE — After opening June 1, 1998, over 23 years ago, Buddy B’s Restaurant owners, Fege and Gary Boe, have decided to retire from the family business named after their son, Gary “Buddy” Boe, and daughter Bridget “B” Boe.

Over the years, the Boes have fed thousands of locals, industry workers and tourists at their local dive located on River Road in Historic Garyville. Originally famous for their one-pound Kajun Burger, the Boes quickly introduced the area to Fege Brownies and Gary’s GumBoe, which are frequent requests by customers dining in the restaurant or catering orders for the area’s industries. Fege brought the Italian flavors to the Cajun spices put into every recipe by Gary, creating the unique menu that includes everything from stuffed bell peppers to lasagna.

“I grew up in my dad’s restaurant in Reserve flipping hamburgers, so cooking, serving and making people smile through food has given me so much joy over the years. We’re not going far and the recipes are staying, so I am looking forward to walking in the front door and seeing our customers’ familiar faces for many, many years,” said Fege Boe.

The community is invited to share in the excitement June 14-18, with a free Fege Brownie or bread pudding with every order to celebrate the last week of the tenure of the Boes as owners, with their retirement effective June 18.

“We’ve been through freezes, industrial expansions, hurricanes, and labor and food shortages, but COVID-19 was the toughest because there was nothing we could do but stay open, keep our team employed and get to the other side. We did it, and now it’s time for Fege and I to start our next chapter,” said Gary Boe.

An outdoor dining area has recently been added, but that’s the only change customers will notice. The recipes are staying, and the friendly faces of the staff will still be smiling.

Buddy B’s Restaurant is being bought by Buddy Boe, son of Gary and Fege, and will be a part of Sophisticated Hospitality Group, owned by Buddy and Executive Chef Natasha Clement.
