St. Charles Parish dancers win big at state competition

Destrehan High School’s Desty Darlings upheld their school’s winning tradition at the American All-Star State Competition held last week at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Cajun Dome. The Desty Darlings, pictured above, were named state champions for their Hip Hop and Game Day routines. The girls also took home the Sweepstakes award in Division One.

The Harry Hurst Middle School Runnerettes and the J.B. Martin Middle School Cougarettes dance team also represented St. Charles Parish well at the American All-Star State Competition. The Runnerettes were state champions in Game Day and won the Sweepstakes Award in Division II. The Cougarettes were state champions in Jazz and won the Sweepstakes Award in Division III.
