RESERVE — River Parish Community Theatre has announced plans to produce Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” under the direction of Darryl P. Clement this summer.

After plans last summer were cancelled due to the pandemic, theater organizers decided to re-visit show options for 2021.

“We felt this is a perfect time to bring back a classic with a timeless message. ‘Cinderella’ is a family favorite and has such an uplifting theme – something we all can benefit from,” said RPCT President Sean Roussel.

While plans are being made for a normal summer show, the theater recognizes the chance of having to adjust its schedule again this year. RPCT is preparing their usual high energy, high quality production but is aware the theater remains at the mercy of the COVID-19 virus and the restrictions placed on them by the government.

The theater has alternative plans in the event they are not allowed to bring the community its normal high caliber effort. This includes the possibility of doing a smaller, different show with a smaller cast if necessary.

“We’re remaining positive and will cross that bridge if we come to it. We have alternate plans ready but hope not to use them. Either way, barring a complete quarantine, we plan to have a show with an audience – within guidelines at the time,” said Roussel.

Plans are for auditions at St. Peter School in Reserve from April 11 and 13-15. An informational meeting/orientation will be held Sunday, and auditions will take place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Show dates are July 16-18 and 21-24, also at St. Peter School.
