Dept. of Transportation and Development announces bid results for statewide projects

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that 16 projects around the state were let on February 10, 2021. Thirteen contractors presented apparent low bids totaling $67.4 million.

“Among the 16 projects let this month, we’re proud to offer our citizens and visitors two high-profile jobs,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “We’re investing $31 million in Lafourche Parish for a new roadway and bridge, allowing motorists a safer and more direct route between LA 3235 and Airport Road. Another $20.6 million is being invested in Livingston Parish for some much-needed improvements to I-12.”

The projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:
Replacement of Carl Hunt Road Bridge in Avoyelles Parish: $646,893.38

Pavement/ Overlay:

  • Grading, milling, patching, and overlay on I-12 between LA 63 and Tangipahoa Parish Line in Livingston Parish: $20,598,985.17
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 35 between LA 335 and LA 14 in Vermilion Parish: $1,894,574.87
  • Milling, overlay, and drainage on LA 965 between LA 966 and LA 10 in West Feliciana Parish: $2,118,506.96
  • Grading, milling, paving, and drainage on LA 20 at its intersection with LA 3127 in St. James Parish: $438,944.38
  • Milling and patching on LA 585 between West Carroll Parish line and U.S. 65 in East Carroll Parish: $327,208.60
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 3197 between Barrow Street and LA 182 in Terrebonne Parish: $356,552.51
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 573 between Cooter Point Road and Big Choctaw Bayou in Tensas Parish: $1,295,522.60
  • Grading, milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 1 between intracoastal and Valentine Bridge in Lafourche Parish: $1,691,349.72
  • Milling, patching, widening, overlay, and drainage on LA 13 and LA 91 near Acadia Parish Line in St. Landry Parish: $2,022,472.75
  • Milling, patching, overlay, drainage, and bridge removal on LA 144 between Eros and Ouachita Parish line in Jackson Parish: $2,428,067.33

Congestion Mitigation and Safety:

  • New roadway and bridge connecting LA 3235 and LA 308/Airport Access Road in Lafourche Parish: $30,956,316.07
  • Pavement reflectors and striping throughout Lafayette Parish: $1,096,443.08
  • Pavement reflectors and striping on I-49 in Evangeline Parish: $131,334.00
  • Pavement reflectors and striping on I-49 between Belcher and Arkansas state line in Caddo Parish: $1,095,381.35

Other:

  • Toomey Nature Walk improvements in Calcasieu Parish: $328,520.00

Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors.
