RESERVE — Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, St. John the Baptist Parish Public School students in pre-K through 12^th grade will return to the hybrid learning model.

For the past few weeks, learning has been 100 percent virtual due to COVID-19 spikes in the area and across the state.

Starting next week, the Green Group will attend class in person, while the Gold Group will attend class virtually on Mondays and Tuesdays. Wednesday classes will be all virtual as deep cleaning is performed at the school sites. The Gold Group will be in person and the Green Group will be virtual on Thursdays and Fridays.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, Feb. 15 and Tuesday, Feb. 16 due to Mardi Gras break. School officials urge families to please be safe, wear a mask and practice social distancing during the Mardi Gras break.

Parents of hybrid students may request that their child remain 100 percent virtual. The deadline for these requests was Friday, Feb. 5.

Scholars may request additional days of instruction up to the limit of each classroom’s capacity as determined by the school site principal. Additional days of instruction will begin on February 22. Requests must be made via email to the site principal by February 12. The subject line for email requests must read “Learning Model Requests.”

Scholars in the 100 percent Virtual Learning Program will remain 100 percent unless a request to change to hybrid is made. A request to change must be made by February 12 via an email to the school site principal.

Only scholars who remain 100 percent virtual will be eligible for continued home meal delivery. Green and Gold hybrid students will once again receive meals to go on the days they have in-person attendance.

It is mandatory for seniors to complete senior checklists by March 1. Seniors will receive checklists the week of February 8.
