GONZALES — Get ready for the best student art competition in the region! River Region Art Association hosts this student competition for schools in the River Parishes each year. Members of the organization are getting ready to receive student art on March 12, from noon to 4 p.m. and on Saturday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Student age categories are 6 to 11 years old and 12 to 17 years old! Media categories are Painting, Drawing, Mixed Media, Digital Art, 3D and Photography. Students may enter up to three art pieces in one or more media categories. All art must be either framed or gallery wrapped to be hung for the judging.

Entry Forms will be found on River Region Art Association Facebook page or website. The large Entry Form should be filled in and attached to the back of the painting. Smaller forms noting Entry 1, 2 and 3 are to be attached to each of the entries in one category. These forms can be duplicated as needed and must be filled in before art is brought to the Depot Gallery. Take in for art on March 12 and 13 (see times above) will be using the current COVID-19 protocols. Please wear masks!

Winners will be announced at the reception on March 27. More information about the reception will be given out during take in. Art teachers in the area have been sent information about this event.
