LAPLACE — Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Mu Zeta Chapter is hosting a Domestic Violence Panel Discussion at 4 p.m. on Jan. 9.  This virtual event will enlighten participants on how prevalent domestic violence is in our community.  With our eyes wide open, do we not see it, or can we not help to eradicate the problem? We cannot have “EYES WIDE SHUT.”  Please join us as we discuss with professionals what we can do to eliminate domestic violence.

Domestic violence coordinators, police officers, social workers, school counselors, survivors and the Divine 9 DVPI Core Executive team are the target audience for this virtual event. Topics include lifestyle of domestic violence, psychological behavior and wounds, road to recovery and Q&A.

The following ladies will serve as presenters: Shirley Sims and Ivy Williams, co-owners of A Safe Space of St. Charles; Leonetta Terrell, president of the New Orleans chapter of Black Social workers and New Orleans Coalition Against Domestic Violence; and Deidre Boyle, domestic violence survivor.

The National Domestic Violence hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
